042. Road trip with friends

7/20-22/2012

Right after I got off of work on my last day, Katherine, Julianne, and I road tripped up to ATX for the weekend! We swam in Barton Creek, ate at some delicious food trailers, and had a good time going out. I’m so stoked to be living in Austin next semester!

085. Set off fireworks

7/6/2012

Started off the morning right by setting these babies off at the abandoned golf course. ‘twas quite a lovely experience, watching little balls of flame shoot from the firework and explode in the sky.

096. End the night with a sun rise

6/4/2012

After checking #15 off my list, the majority of the seniors in my graduating class of 818 headed over to Main Event for a lock in. It was our last hoorah as a class and many memories were made! I discovered that I’m not too shabby at air hockey (get at me!) and I *may* have bowled into another lane… We disbanded around 5AM and went our separate ways. Cody, Cody, and I went back to Cody’s casa, had pancakes, listened to some good reggae and watched the sunrise in his backyard. Meant To Be by Rebelution came on as the sun peaked out through trees and the rays fell on the old golf course. I’m so excited for what the future holds and I’m looking forward to the memories I’m going to make during my last summer before college! Thank you to Cody^2 for helping me cross off #96 and for being great friends. Life’s good!

015. Graduate high school with honors

6/3/2012

After four years at CL, I walked across stage as a magna cum laude graduate. Being Senior Class Secretary, I actually got to sit on stage and I had a speaking part! It was quite surreal and it went by a lot more quickly than I expected. A huge thank you to my family for all of their support over the years. And for sitting through the entire ceremony, despite the Houston heat and humidity. It means a lot and I love you all!

093. Attend Free Press Summer Fest

6/2/2012

There was no better way to celebrate my graduation weekend than finishing #93! This was my second time being able to attend FPSF, the first being the festival’s inaugural year in 2008. I saw Z-ro, Snoop Dogg, R3HAB, and the Flaming Lipps perform some great sets. ‘twas an incredible experience that I couldn’t even begin to describe! “It does not matter who you are.”

095. Frolic through a field of wild flowers

3/15/2012

Thank you Brian, for being such a good sport about helping me cross #95 off the list! My family took a day trip out to Brenham, Texas to tour the Bluebell Ice Cream Factory during Spring Break. We had dinner at a cute little place in town and on our way home, we stopped at a large field filled with bluebonnets and indian paint brushes. Brian (grudgingly) let me lead the way as we made our way hand in hand through the wildflowers.

065. Be part of a bridal party

7/23/2011

A huge congratulations to my aunt, Mrs. Deborah Nguyen Faber for enabling me to cross off #65! I wish her, her new beau, and Rubes all the best in beautiful state of Hawaii. I’d also like to take this time to thank my aunt D for not making us wear hideous bridesmaids dresses. The ceremony was touching, the bride was stunning, the groom looked sharp, and the maid-of-honor looked gorgeous in a dress that was hand-sewn by the bride! All the best, and P.S. I’m visiting you soon.

019. Have paint war

7/2/2011

Thanks to Ms. Jessica, I crossed off #19 the list! For her 18th birthday she had a paint war. We filled up water guns with water downed paint and went to town. Unfortunately, I slept in a little too late and ended up showing up at the tail end of the war. Most of the paint was gone— I think there was one little bottle left by the time I got there? Some of the boys decided it’d be a good idea to fill their water guns with mustard and assorted soft drinks, hence the “smelly” and “sticky” tags. This one is going to have to be redone, seeing as I missed most of the action :(

002. Make a pie from scratch

6/21/2011

With the help of my little sister and little cousin, I checked off #2 on my list! It took longer than I expected, roughly 2 hours, but I suppose I didn’t think making dough would take as long as it did. I have to admit, I was worried that the dough wouldn’t rise, or it’d end up tasting terrible, but in the end the crust and lattice strips were the best part of the pie! The filling consisted of raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. The filling in the final product (see photograph on the left) ended up having an excess of berry juices, so I just poured some of it out and drizzled it on top of the pieces when served. It was extremely satisfying to take a bite of warm berry pie after all of our hard work. Overall, it was a great experience and I am sure my first homemade pie will not be my last!
